Challenge
Developing animation concepts and final motion pieces for Poland's pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka—the world's most prestigious economic and cultural exhibition. The challenge lay in translating Poland’s Expo theme, "Poland. Heritage that drives the future," into a visual language that introduces the nation's creative spark to a global audience.
Strategy
The creative direction moves away from rigid, dry institutional graphics, opting instead for a warm, storytelling-driven approach. The strategy captures the Polish "creativity gene" by blending iconic regional landmarks with a timeless cultural anchor. By placing a recognizable Fryderyk Chopin into contemporary Polish landscapes, the motion design bridges past genius with future-facing energy, making the country's spirit feel accessible and inviting.
Identity
The animation system is built around signature regional highlights from across Poland, woven together by the traveling figure of Fryderyk Chopin. The narrative flows seamlessly through distinct local scenes, featuring moments like a casual walk near Katowice’s iconic Spodek arena, a ride past Wawel Castle in Kraków, and a hot air balloon floating near Poznań’s famous mechanical goats. Visually, the pieces lean on a warm, soft color palette and smooth, comforting motion graphics, timed to complement the rhythm of Chopin’s music.
Outcome
The resulting animations gave the Polish pavilion a highly engaging, emotionally resonant digital layer. By swapping standard tourism tropes for a poetic journey through the country, the final concepts showcase Poland's unique balance of deep historical roots, natural well-being, and modern creativity.
