Challegne
Designing the layout and internal visual elements for the highly anticipated first print edition of Jacek Dukaj’s acclaimed novel Starość Aksolotla ("The Old Axolotl"). The story follows the remains of humanity who coped with a biological apocalypse by copying their digitized minds into mechs and hardware.
Strategy
The creative direction treats the physical book as an artifact of a post-human archive. The strategy balances grand, cinematic art with structural graphic layers.
Identity
The cover features an overgrown mechanical body under a brutalist sky, paired with clean, classical typography. Inside, the design introduces a custom system of technical pictograms and bookplates to identify the different generations of machines and alliances, keeping the layout clean and highly functional.
Outcome
The final packaging balances an atmospheric sci-fi cover painting with a strict internal language of technical iconography.
