Challenge
Designing the cover and physical packaging for „Mikromusic z Dolnej Półki”, a live acoustic album by the Polish band Mikromusic. Known for searching out unconventional sounds, the band tracked down rare, antique, and handcrafted instruments from flea markets and local artisans. The design challenge was to translate this raw, authentic, and eco-conscious musical experiment into a tangible packaging system.
Strategy
The creative direction mirrors the unrefined nature of the music by focusing on organic textures. The strategy splits the album into two contrasting color variants: a standard blue version for retail stores (wrapped in protective foil due to retail requirements) and a zero-plastic red version sold at live shows, constructed entirely from raw, recycled cardboard.
Identity
The visual identity is driven by a vibrant, high-contrast duo of deep crimson and rich sky blue. The cover art features a bouquet of dried field plants, grasses, and dandelions paired with a fleeting butterfly. The typography on the gatefold interior remains functional and minimalist, letting the organic textures and color-blocking handle the storytelling.
Outcome
The project delivered a distinct physical release that directly connects a band's creative philosophy with sustainable manufacturing, perfectly matching the authentic, acoustic roots of the music.
